I DIDN'T KNOW THE WHOLE STORY..

I was one of the few friends Funsho had in school. We would walk to school together in the mornings and back in the evening, do assignments together (even though he did most of them for me. lol!) and we definitely teased each other a lot. I remember one of our conversations, when he teased me and said, “You are not even pretty, I wonder why all those boys keep chasing you like ants.” I let out a wicked laugh, and said, “Oh, really! You are one of them you know. I wonder why you always insist on walking me back home every day!” Or, what do we call that? ‘Flying after me’, right?” I asked rhetorically with a fake smile. We argued and laughed about it till we got to my house that day. Yes, Funsho liked me. But there was more to Funsho walking me home that I did not know. There was more to his strange reactions at certain times. There was more to him sleeping during classes- I mean, we all thought he had sleeping sickness or something worse. But that was not the case. My judgement about him passed on from negative to positive when I got to know him better. My friend, Funsho, was going through physical, emotional and sexual abuse back at home. He was living with his aunt, since he lost his parents a few years back. It was then I understood that the reason he was walking me home was not just because he liked me. It was to while away time and enjoy my company before going back to what he would describe as hell! He was sleeping during lessons because he barely slept during the night doing one rigorous work or the other! I could go on and on, but the good thing is that, Funsho is a very fine man now and he is doing very well. Now, what do I intend to bring out of this? Just like Funsho, everyone has some story. If you hear a disparaging comment about somebody or probably your first impression about them is quite negative, do not be too quick to judge them. People who make sound judgements do not act on incomplete evidence. The truth is, we all come from different backgrounds, families, and environments. We all have different approaches to life based on our experiences and what we have been exposed to over a period of time. When you see people handling certain things in a particular way or doing things that might be quite different from what you think, pause and evaluate the situation carefully. Do not be too quick to criticize them. Do not be too quick to run them down with your words. Have you paused to know who they are, what they value, where they come from? Have you bothered to know what experiences they have gone through or the type of personalities they have that makes them do what they do or act in a certain way? We have to be very careful when making certain judgements about other people- especially when it is negative or destructive. I discovered that if we understand this, it helps us to know how to relate with different people better and even be of help to them in the long run. Looking at the other side of the coin, some spread negative judgements about others because they feel insecure or jealous about something else that they have, that they do not. Let’s learn to celebrate each other. We all rise at different levels and at different times. If one does not know how true a certain information is about someone else, it is best to keep quiet. In the event that a certain conclusion is true about a person, we can be of help if we can and make corrections accordingly or direct such person to one who can handle the situation properly, depending on the circumstance. Most importantly, relying on God to see others through the lens of love, will help us to be patient and not rush into the wrong conclusions. We are all on a journey.

To be found among those who pull others down with words is not befitting for Kings.

With so much love,

I invite you today to accept Jesus Christ into your heart, if you have not. He loves you. And he wants you to radiate beauty and fulfill purpose. All you have to do is believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that God raised him from the dead to give you eternal life. Say this with me.

"Lord Jesus, I come before you today. I believe and confess that you died for me and rose again to give me eternal life. Thank you for coming into my life. Thank you for forgiving my sin. Thank you for saving me. I am born again. I am saved. I am a child of God in Jesus name, Amen."

If you said this short prayer, congratulations! You are a new creation in Christ Jesus.

Please send me a message. I will be glad to talk and pray with you.😊
