WHERE DO YOU BELONG?

Embed from Getty Images “Mhoyeen, what is responsibility?” Mr. Modurogbagada, one of my favorite teachers asked me all of a sudden. This was my beautiful reply. “Errrrrmm, responsibility is like….is like being responsive to…to….” He cut me short and said, “Never mind. It is like being responsive to Wale, who you have been talking to for about fifteen minutes now. During my class!” Of course, the whole class burst into laughter. (Please, don’t ask me if I had a crush on Wale or not. That story is not for today. Lol!) But hey, I would like to dwell on the issue of taking and accepting responsibility. Sometimes, we run away from responsibilities because we think we do not have the forte to handle a particular task or assignment. It could simply be due to habitual laziness or reasons best known to us. Whatever it may be, one thing I discovered is this: A person who continually shies away from responsibility, does not increase his or her capacity to be more. One beautiful thing that should be noted is that, when you have been given an assignment, there is something God has placed inside of you to fulfill it. In essence, you put your potential to work. This is because responsibility helps you to see and develop potentials that you thought you never had. It exposes you to experiences you cannot get while staying in your shell. Yes, responsibility comes with certain challenges. Nevertheless, what it forms in you is a unique strength that is sufficient for others to lean on when they find themselves in similar situations. It develops a sense of accountability, leadership and reliability. Truth is, there are platforms and positions that God has prepared for us. We are not just going to get there by magic. It takes a process and such process comes with responsibilities. Everybody wants to be great, but we often forget that greatness comes with large responsibilities. Taking up or accepting certain assignments will require that we quit looking down on ourselves and take very bold steps! Come to think of it, some of us could not do what we can do so well now, a few years back. Things such as speaking in public, excellent organisation, teaching, design and so many other things. All these were developed when we had to be responsible for one thing or the other. Now, there are people by virtue of their nature, who love to take responsibility and be in charge. And there are others, who do not want to accept responsibility and prefer that others should do it, (when in fact they can perform so well). Whatever category any of us might belong to, this is what I have to say. Training and teaching ourselves to take responsibility is key on the road to self-development. Wisdom requires that sometimes, you do not have to do everything. Know when to take one and delegate some to others, in order to give them a chance to grow too.

There is always a clear difference between those who choose to be spectators and those who choose to be participants. I’d rather belong to the latter.Where do you belong?

With so much love,

I invite you today to accept Jesus Christ into your heart, if you have not. He loves you. And he wants you to radiate beauty and fulfill purpose. All you have to do is believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that God raised him from the dead to give you eternal life. Say this with me.

"Lord Jesus, I come before you today. I believe and confess that you died for me and rose again to give me eternal life. Thank you for coming into my life. Thank you for forgiving my sin. Thank you for saving me. I am born again. I am saved. I am a child of God in Jesus name, Amen."

If you said this short prayer, congratulations! You are a new creation in Christ Jesus.

Please send me a message. I will be glad to talk and pray with you.😊
