WHAT DID YOU FLUSH
So, I realized I was becoming wedded to it. Something had to be done before I gave myself up to it. I stood up, walked to the bathroom, dropped it into the toilet. And flushed it. Yes, that was the exact thing I did. Now, I’m not talking about defecating or micturating or throwing a ring into the toilet. No, I finally got rid of something that was slowly consuming my productivity. All the while I had devoted myself to it, as if it was some priceless treasure. Both in the day and at night. It was not because I did not know that it added nothing to me or it was gradually eating me up. That, I understood perfectly. Maybe I just got myself locked up in the cage of procrastination or laziness. Some other persons might say they were too afraid to let such things go, that they were not courageous enough. To look it in the face and discard it. Whatever reasons I or the other persons might have given, the problem lay in our inability to take the first step: standing up. We just remained where we were, did not make any attempt to stand up. Not to talk of walking down to the ‘toilet’ and discarding it. These things prevented us from achieving as much as we could in a single day, shifting our focus from what should be prioritized. Our eyes were blindfolded from how much we could maximize so many opportunities and potentials. They were not priorities, they were not relevant to our development, but we held on to them anyway.
Most times, we get too carried away by things that do not deserve our time or energy or any part of us. All I am saying is this: Do not focus your attention on what you could do later than what should be done now. More of our energies and time should be channeled to things and people that would improve us and enhance our God given gifts. Dearest, remember to also acknowledge God in all you do, so he can direct your paths. He can help you see what you should be doing and the things that should be flushed.
And yes, what I disposed would be a story for another day!
