WHAT DID YOU FLUSH (PART 2)

Love, relationships, family, money, business, food, lifestyle. Those were some of the subjects we discussed at length. We decided to hang out at Ben’s house for Christmas. To relax, talk, eat, drink, play and enjoy ourselves. It was indeed a wonderful time spent together as friends. There were times silence filled the whole place because two or three persons had just shared some sad experiences they encountered the previous week or month. Other times, we laughed hard, so hard, that it looked as if our bellies were about to burst open. Ben was fond of letting out dry jokes, I do not understand why we still guffawed at them anyway. During one of our discussions on managing our time and setting priorities right, I finally decided to share with them what I had flushed in the ‘toilet’ the previous time. For me, that singular thing was my phone. “Your phone?” Omolara asked surprisingly. They were all amazed, in fact, Ben had started to laugh already. I did not flush it because the phone had stopped working or that I took no interest in it.  This was something that was gradually eating into my time, making me less productive. It still did not make sense to them. Wale asked that I shed more light to what I said. Of course, I needed it to make calls, take nice pictures, connect with friends on social media, surf the internet, text messages and get a whole lot of information, which is important. Now, the only problem was that, I was doing the right thing at a wrong time. I channeled more of my energy and time surfing the internet; moving from twitter to Facebook to Instagram to YouTube. And then back again and again for hours. After spending so much time with it, I would have become exhausted or lazy to do other things that were germane. And I kept on saying, “I will do it tomorrow, there is still time. I need to rest.” You know, there were always news and celebrity gist that would excite you and make one visit so many sites and blogs. A lot of videos to watch, so many stories to read. I was already becoming wedded to it. A good definition of misplaced priorities! As I have said in the previous part of this story: Do not focus your attention on what you could do later than what should be done now. Flushing it, could translate to giving less of your time and resources to things that are minor to your growth and development. Or to totally do away with it, if necessary. Alright, what you may have to flush, might not be a phone. Like Omolara, it could be, being involved in the wrong relationships. Or something else entirely. Probably, you just need to apply discipline and gather enough courage. Whatever it is, stand up and flush it. Trust me, the earlier you do that, the better for you! Never forget to rely on God to help you focus on the things that deserves more of your attention, and the ones that need less of your time. He helps us set our priorities right!

"Lord Jesus, I come before you today. I believe and confess that you died for me and rose again to give me eternal life. Thank you for coming into my life. Thank you for forgiving my sin. Thank you for saving me. I am born again. I am saved. I am a child of God in Jesus name, Amen."

If you said this short prayer, congratulations! You are a new creation in Christ Jesus.

Please send me a message. I will be glad to talk and pray with you.😊
