AMPLIFY YOUR STRENGTHS!

It is true that every human is blessed with certain gifts, strengths, unique abilities and is created for a purpose. In fact, we hear it again and again through the numerous seminars, conferences and teachings that we have attended (and will still attend), that we all have strengths and potentials that are peculiar to each of us. It is one thing to hear and know that we have all of these within us; it is something entirely different for our eyes to be opened to them.

Some of us have entered into the room of self-discovery and are beginning to find out some interesting things about ourselves. Yet, quite a number of us do not see our strengths and have concluded that we carry nothing special. So, we begin to think that probably God did not give gifts to everyone afterall. 

I have been there myself, and I know how frustrating that can be. We give so much time to looking at what others can do well and give little or no attention to the things we can do effortlessly. Our strengths lie in the things we do with ease. The big issue is that we tend to take them for granted because we flow in them naturally. Abilities that should be held in high esteem have been treated as ordinary.

Now, to think that these gifts are limited to ‘talent show’ displays like solving difficult quadratic equations without using a pen, singing, acting, dancing, writing and so on, is not a good perspective. Can you win other people over? – even if you just met them. Do you have a strong sense of empathy? Are you a great learner? Are you organized and pay attention to minute details? Are you a good communicator? Are you a good marketer? –  trust me, some people can sell mud! Do you have this exceptional ability to make people laugh? – even when they are in a very sad state. 

Today, people pay quite a lot of money to attend comedy shows. All of these and more are strengths that might have been ignored. Oftentimes, we struggle along the line and choose to dwell on our weaknesses, instead of amplifying our strengths.

My message today is this: Pay attention to yourself and more importantly, pay adequate attention to the one who made you. In Him lies the revelation that you need about your being. And when you do discover these gifts, use them as often as you can, develop them and share it with other people – there is someone who needs your special ability. Always remember that your power lies in the fact that there is no other person like you!
