FIRE'S STORY

Some months back, I woke up to realize that all along, I had adhered to everyone’s priority except my own.  The problem was that I had a problem with one thing, which only led me to having bigger problems.

Now, I had this notion that, if I agreed to what every other person wanted, they would like me and see me as a good person. I wanted everybody to accept me. I acceded to both the things that were right for me and the ones that were not.  In my quest of trying to be a “people pleaser”, I ended up doing things that were good but were never right for me at that time. 

I got engaged in activities that I sincerely did not want to be involved in. It is essential that we understand that, what is good for another individual might be something that does not go well with the other. For the fact that the idea is a good one, does not necessarily mean that it is right for you. Do not allow the opinion of others make you to choose the good things over the right things in your path to fulfilling destiny. 

All I am saying is, learn to say ‘No’ when you need to.  Do not give a ‘Yes, it’s okay’, when you know instinctively that you do not feel right with what the other party is presenting to you. I know that sometimes, we could sacrifice for others at the expense of our own convenience. 

On the other hand, when it is not balanced, it will only result in; we, allowing the opinions of others to determine how we live our lives. For me, balance comes in when we discover who we are, what we stand for and at the same time understanding that no matter what we do or say; there will always be critics, haters, naysayers, oppositions. 

Everybody cannot like you! Nevertheless, be kind to people, show love and care, accept corrections. Trust me, I have learnt to be sincere and bold enough to say NO, if I need to. By taking this step, I have not allowed the way others see me to become how I see myself.

If you stand for something, let them know! You have the right to say NO, if it is not a priority to you. More importantly, connect to the real you and believe God as he leads you in standing for the right things.

I invite you today to accept Jesus Christ into your heart, if you have not. He loves you. And he wants you to radiate beauty and fulfill purpose. All you have to do is believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that God raised him from the dead to give you eternal life. Say this with me. 

"Lord Jesus, I come before you today. I believe and confess that you died for me and rose again to give me eternal life. Thank you for coming into my life. Thank you for forgiving my sin. Thank you for saving me. I am born again. I am saved. I am a child of God in Jesus name, Amen."

MY JOURNEY (1)

I left the examination hall that afternoon with so much anxiety. I just hoped that everything would eventually turn out fine. The aggregate score of each candidate for the examination would be sent via a text message the next morning.  Those who knew me well, understood that I never joked with having a good sleep. But this time, I kept rolling from one end of the bed to the other as it was quite difficult for me to sleep. All that went through my head were thoughts of what I would score in the examination.  At exactly 7am, my phone vibrated as it would when a text message was delivered. I was so certain that it was the message containing the result. I rushed to pick up my phone on the table beside the bed, and there it was. “Recharge N400 and get up to N1000 worth of airtime.
